Spanish Immersion

WHAT IS DUAL IMMERSION?

Our Spanish Immersion program is a dual immersion model, meaning half the class are native Spanish speakers, and half are native English speakers. The classrooms are made up of 50 percent fluent English speakers and 50 percent fluent Spanish speakers.

CURRICULUM

Beginning in kindergarten, students receive 90 percent of their instruction in Spanish and 10 percent in English from their classroom teacher. Instruction in English gradually increases until students are receiving 50 percent of their instruction in English and 50 percent in Spanish by grade 3. In grades 6-8, students continue with humanities in Spanish and receive instruction in other subject areas in English to prepare them for the transition to high school.
